Jenna Marie Alvarez, Ph.D. (Assistant Professor-Educator) is currently responsible for coordinating the School Counseling Program and serving as the field coordinator for school counselor trainees. Dr. Alvarez received her doctoral degree from Ohio University (CACREP Accredited) and completed her master’s in School Counseling from the University of Dayton (CACREP Accredited). She is currently a licensed professional school counselor with experience working at the elementary level. Additional school-related experiences include working as a special education teacher at the middle school and high school. As a doctoral intern, Dr. Alvarez worked at a community agency with children and adolescents, as well as a hospital setting focused on helping adults with addictions. Her research interests include disability culture, school counselor identity coupled with training, and assessment.
