Attending, University Hospital: excellent student and resident evaluations of clinical and teaching abilities 2002-2008

Outpatient Stroke Clinic: Dr. Kleindorfer created and maintains the only designated stroke clinic within Aring Neurology Faculty Practice. Patients seen include hospital follow-ups after discharge with ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, stroke prevention study candidates and current study patients. Medical student teaching: 4th year students on the acute stroke elective rotate through this clinic and are taught regarding stroke risk factor management and stroke prevention.

Multi-Disciplinary Neuro-Intervention Clinic: created by Dr. Kleindorfer in 2005. In conjunction with Mayfield Neurosurgery, patients are seen by multiple physicians in one clinic. An important clinic for the neuro-interventional fellows from both neurosurgery and neurology. Dr. Kleindorfer’s role: assessment if adequate medical management has been achieved prior to consideration of intervention. Diagnoses seen include large-vessel stenosis, aneurysm and AVM. In addition, other neurologic issues addressed, such as headache, dementia, seizures, etc.

Acute Stroke Call Coverage: critical care coverage for all 18 hospitals in the Cincinnati region for decisions regarding treatment of acute ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. Over 120 patients treated with thrombolytic therapy, including intravenous, intra-arterial, or both. Acute clinical trials: 14 patients enrolled in hyper-acute stroke treatment trials

Trans-cranial Doppler: monitoring for vasospasm in subarachnoid hemorrhage patients in the neuroscience critical care unit.
