Professional Summary

Dr. Jeanelle Martinez obtained her BS and MS at New Mexico State University, her PhD at the University of Texas, and held a post-doctoral fellowship at NIEHS. More recently, she was a Toxicologist for the US EPA in the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response (OSWER), where she worked for 9 years with the National Decontamination Team (NDT).  She supported projects for the Office of Emergency Management and her focus involved pesticide decontamination and surface clean up values. Other projects included health risks for chemical warfare agents, air dispersion modeling for Anthrax, and scientific support to the emergency responders. Dr. Martinez has published 17 manuscripts in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Her Research Scientist/Toxicologist position here with the TERA Center provides for the development of risk assessment documents and risk science methods. Currently, she is the project lead for the ITER database that provides chemical toxicity values for the general public and is listed on TOXNET, within the National Library of Medicine. She develops pharmaceutical risk assessments and provides expert review for screening assessments.  Dr. Martinez is also an IPA Fellow for NIOSH and is working to update the chemical protection guidance in the NIOSH Pocket Guide.
