Professional Summary

Naoko Tanaka finished her initial studies as a pianist of the Toho Gakuen Conservatory in Tokyo. She worked as a music instructor before moving to the United States, earning both a Master of Music degree and a Performance Diploma from Indiana University in Bloomington where she was a graduate assistant as an opera coach. She attended music festivals and master classes and performed in Belgium, Prague, London, Switzerland and Germany. Currently, she studies with Professor James Tocco while working towards her Doctorate of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. She actively performs in solo and chamber recitals internationally, most conspicuously at Carnegie and Alice Tully Hall. She recently performed as the featured soloist with the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra. She is a sought after accompanist in a wide range of literature for both traditional and non-traditional instrumentalists and vocalists. Her past teachers include Michel Block, Shigeru Neriki and Michiko Okamoto.
