Professional Summary

Nirmalya Thakur is currently working as an Instructor and Research Fellow in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Cincinnati. His research interests include Human-Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Data Science, and Natural Language Processing.

He has authored 32 peer-reviewed publications in a combination of conference papers, journal publications, and invited book chapters. He has delivered 26 presentations in the form of keynote addresses and invited presentations at conferences in United States, Canada, China, France, Denmark, and Indonesia. Nirmalya has reviewed more than 360 papers by serving on the reviewer board of 30 conferences and almost as many journals. He has also worked for 26 international conferences as a committee member. He has received about $60,000 in research funding in the form of grants and fellowships to support his research.

Nirmalya Thakur is a globally celebrated scholar in the field of Human-Computer Interaction and its interrelated disciplines. He has received multiple nationally and internationally recognized awards and honors. Some of the recent ones include the Young Innovator Award, the Young Scientist of the Year Award, the Excellent Researcher Award, and the Research Excellence Award. In 2020, for the second year in a row, his biography was featured by Marquis Who’s Who, who since 1899 have chronicled the lives and achievements of the most accomplished individuals and innovators from around the world in their annual publications (2020 press release2019 press release). He was recently inducted into the elite list of Marquis Top Scientists of the World. In view of his breakthrough research, he has been featured on Yahoo NewsBusiness InsiderIEEE TV, WRDE Coast TV, and in different newspapers. 

He is currently seeking an Assistant Professor in Computer Science position starting August 2022.
