Professional Summary

Eric Anderson is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Media Communications & Technology department. He earned his BFA in Applied Media Arts from Edinboro University and his MA in Interactive Multimedia from Ohio University, and also completed a graduate certificate in Marketing from the University of Cincinnati. He has received numerous accolades for teaching excellence, including the Innovative Teaching Award and being named an eLearning Champion. Anderson previously served as Faculty Chair at UC Blue Ash, where he led the Executive Committee, ran monthly faculty meetings, and represented the faculty in college-wide planning and communication. He has also chaired multiple university-level committees and served on high-level blue-ribbon panels focused on academic technology, strategic planning, and curricular innovation.

Before transitioning to higher education, Anderson worked in both commercial and public broadcast television. He served as Chief Photojournalist at WNWO-TV (NBC 24) in Toledo, Ohio, Videographer/Editor and Production Engineer at WICU-TV (NBC 12) in Erie, Pennsylvania, and Electronic Media Editor & Producer at WOUB-TV and Radio in Athens, Ohio, a PBS/NPR affiliate operated by Ohio University. His productions achieved national distribution and earned three regional Emmy Awards and multiple Telly Awards. He was also recognized four consecutive years as the Ohio Associated Press Best Videographer, and has received additional top honors from organizations such as the National Press Photographer’s Association, the Ohio News Photographers Association, the National Educational Television Association, the Columbus Film & Animation Festival, and the Athens International Film Festival.

His areas of expertise include web development, digital design, single- and multi-camera video production, photography, and instructional technology. He teaches across a wide range of media production courses and has developed and led multiple study abroad programs in the United Kingdom and France. His research interests include active learning strategies, critique methods, media literacy, and the impact of pre-departure preparation on study abroad outcomes.

Outside the university, Anderson and his wife own Kitty Brew Cat Café, where he leads all digital media, branding, and promotional strategies as part of the café’s mission to connect rescued cats with the local community.
