Professional Summary

Dr. Tyson is an Advanced Practice Nurse holding dual doctorates in Psychiatric Nursing Practice and Theology & Spiritual Formation. He is triple-boarded, being certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Addiction Registered Nurse--Advanced Practice (Nursing Addictionologist). Before entering the mental health industry Dr. Tyson served as a minister for many years, and still devotes time as Adjunct Clergy. Dr. Tyson earned degrees from Anderson University, Anderson University School of Theology, Knox Theological Seminary, University of Cincinnati, and University of Louisville. He completed a residency experience and was groomed as a psychiatric provider and psychopharmacologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where he was mentored by renowned bipolar scientist, Melissa Delbello, MD, MS. He later received extensive clinical experience working with the severely mentally ill at Talbert House where many of his patients were indigent and in case management services. More recently, Dr. Tyson has offered his gifts as a psychiatric hospitalist for the Lindner Center of Hope, Beckett Springs Hospital, West Chester Hospital, Assurance Health System, and Haven Behavioral Hospital, where he rounds on patients daily. He also enjoys his role as an Assistant Professor Clinical at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing where he directs the Psychiatric-Mental Health Program. Additionally, Dr. Tyson offers outpatient services and is the Founder and Owner of Lee Side Wellness, a regional, privately held conglomerate of PMHNPs, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists, offering innovative and empathic mental wellness, including pharmacogenomics services and transcranial magnetic stimulation. Lee Side Wellness is the largest NP-owned psychiatric practice in the state of Ohio. Dr. Tyson has published and presented multiple papers, and his specialty areas include: anxiety, bipolar, depression, PTSD, sexuality/gender issues, geriatric psychiatry, and substance abuse. Dr. Tyson hails from a small town in Louisiana and loves Cajun cuisine. He is passionate about issues of social justice and equality, loves being a husband and dad, and is a HUGE fan of the LA Lakers. If you love the Lakers you certainly have a friend in Dr. Tyson!
