Professional Summary

Professor Maus is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Nursing and the Coordinator of the Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of Cincinnati, College of Nursing.  She has maintained her board certification as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) for twenty-five years.  Professor Maus has practiced extensively throughout the United States providing evidence-based care to medically underserved women, including central California and the United States / Mexico border.  With her current focus on educating the next generation of nurse practitioners, she directs her energy toward technology in learning and teaching clinical skills through online and onsite simulation. Under her leadership, the 2018 WHNP graduates’ pass rate was 100% on their certification exam.  She and her team were awarded the 2017 Dean’s Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Grant.  This allowed her to develop and implement numerous online clinical skill modules covering the pelvic exam, specimen collection, microscopy, and the breast exam.  In August 2019, in cooperation with Bayer U.S., LLC., she added the PelvicSim™ (VirtaMed), a high-fidelity mobile simulator, to train students in intrauterine device (IUD) insertion for the nurse midwifery students. In late 2019, she was part of a team submitting for funding integrating SBIRT training into APN programs.  In 2020, Bayer Global awarded her team a $97,000 grant for development of simulation experiences in a distance format.  In addition, she is working with a team on mindfulness practice in teaching and the workplace.  Her scholarship and clinical practice expertise was further recognized through the publication of clinical practice articles.  In 2019 by invitation, the journal requested the article be further developed for their fall CEU edition.  Her most recent publication on PCOS was published April 2020.
