Professional Summary

My career in nursing began in inpatient psychiatric nursing and unfolded over the next thirty-six years at Rush University Medical Center. I quickly moved into leadership positions, as Quality Coordinator and Patient Care Director of several psychiatric inpatient and day hospital units at Rush University Medical Center and Rush North Shore Medical Center, and later in education, as Associate Chair for Community and Mental Health, as Director of Specialty Education and DNP Programs and as Associate Dean at Rush University. All of my roles at Rush allowed me to build an expertise in the leadership of teams to accomplish goals while maintaining a personal scholarship interest in outcomes of depression treatment. I relocated to the University of Cincinnati's College of Nursing in May, 2012 as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and since then have provided direction and support to dedicated teams of faculty and staff enacting a variety of new initiatives designed to improve the quality of our programs. A few of these included reorganization of our administrative structures, a successful CCNE review, establishment of an evaluation plan, implementation of a cloud based data management system, development of award-winning and innovative teaching strategies using a variety of platforms such as iBooks, as well as simulation in online and on-campus courses. We have implemented a BSN to DNP program in several specialties, have put our RN to BSN program online and have launched some key post-masters programs that will allow primary care providers to become certified as psychiatric-mental health and family nurse practitioners. Finally, we are about to unveil a new “Workplace of the Future that will promote collaboration of faculty and staff and pave the way for future innovative teaching and research.
