Professional Summary

I have 48 years of experience in the field of nursing education in both teaching and administrative roles. Prior to becoming Director of the online RN to BSN Program at the University of Cincinnati in May 2103, I held assistant director/dean and dean positions in diploma and later its two year associate degree program equivalent.  I facilitated the curriculum course development for the conversion from diploma to associate degree program.  I also facilitated the development and management of a role transitions’ course in a diploma program, as well as in the conversion of the course in an AD program. I was responsible for organizing and coordinating a successful NLNAC, now ACEN, accreditation process.
I hold degrees in nursing and education (DNP, MSN, MEd) and I also am a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) through 2026.  I have consulted, internally and externally, on Competency-Based Curriculum.  I have presented on the topic at national and regional poster and podium presentations.   I served in a volunteer consultant role for the traditional undergraduate curriculum revision committee. I led the redesign of the RN-BSN curriculum to a competency based conceptual framework and directed its implementation in fall 2018. In June 2019, I stepped aside from my Director role in June 2019, and continued in my role as an Assistant Professor, Educator in the College of Nursing.
I am a member of the steering committee for the Ohio Action Coalition and co-chair the work team for increasing the number of BSN prepared nurses in the Ohio Workforce.
Academic years 2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016 - 2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, I taught the RN-BSN: Nurse as Professional Leader and Manager online course.  This allowed me to maintain my didactic competency fostered by years of experience in the face-to-face classroom situation.
In my teaching role I have continued to add courses using the online pedogogy. These courses have included graduate courses (NURS8088: The Professorial Role in Nursing Education, NURS8084: Curriculum Design and Student Assessment in Healthcare and NURS8008: Health Policy and undergraduate courses in the RN-BSN Program (NBSN 4062: Scientific Basis, NBSN 4065 Nurse as Professional Leader and Manager, and NBSN 4068: Capstone).
I also had the opportunity to assist the pre-licensure undergraduate program in preparing for the Ohio Board of Nursing Survey Visit in 2018.
