Don Jason

Don P. Jason III, MLIS, MS (he/him/his) serves as the Health Informationist for the University of Cincinnati Donald C. Harrison Health Sciences Library. As a tenured library faculty member, Don manages the library’s community outreach and engagement program. He also works as the liaison to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he sits on the Outcomes Based Projects / Evidence Based Practice Council.  Don assists clinical care staff with grant writing, literature searching, and outcomes-based projects. He also provides library instruction, reference services, and systematic review support.

Prior to his appointment with the University of Cincinnati, Don completed the Associate Fellowship Program at the National Institutes of Health/ National Library of Medicine. This early career success was made possible by a strong academic foundation. Don earned a Master of Science in Health Education from the University of Cincinnati. He earned two graduate degrees from Kent State University. These degrees include a Master of Library and Information Science and a Master of Science in Health Informatics. Don also holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University.

Don is committed to giving back to the profession. He currently serves on the boards of Ohio Health Literacy Partners and the Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education. Don also mentors early career librarians through the Institute for Research Design in Librarianship.

Don’s research interests include prevention science and mental wellness in communities of color, health literacy, and consumer health.
