Personal Statement
My family and I immigrated to the United States when I was six years old. At the time, I was too young to comprehend the gravity of my parents’ sacrifices, but old enough to understand that nothing would be handed to us. I grew up modeling the quiet resilience I saw in my parents, learning to face challenges with persistence and resourcefulness. But most importantly, I was taught that kindness and service to others is a duty and a privilege, even amid hardship.
These values formed the foundation for my journey into medicine and ultimately, into ophthalmology. I am grateful for the all the relationships and lessons learned throughout my journey thus far and look forward to new opportunities in my years of training ahead. I hope to continue growing in an environment that fosters compassionate care and centers meaningful human connections at the heart of our practice.

My interview day with Cincinnati truly stood out as a positive experience, highlighted by warm, authentic interactions with both faculty and residents. Further conversations with a senior resident after my interview reinforced my understanding of the program’s culture and values, which aligned closely with my own professional and personal goals. I was impressed by the breadth of clinical exposure and knew I would thrive in an environment that emphasizes autonomy, a strong work ethic, and a collaborative team mentality.
