Professional Summary

Logan Biren is a second-year PhD Student on the Ancient History Track. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Ancient Greek and Ancient Mediterranean Studies from the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University in 2024. His undergraduate senior capstone project, "Ionian Identity under Lydia, Persia, and the Athens (560-440 BCE)", explores the effects on Asia Minor Ionian identity by differing dominions while questioning the appropriateness of bounding historical studies with the traditional periodization. His research interests primarily are centered on polis formation and polis identity in the late archaic period; however, he also has a great interest in studying Early Christianity.

Logan has participated in the Despotiko field school where he worked in the field excavating, in the storerooms cataloguing and drafting finds, and in the lab preserving pottery.
