Professional Summary
Alex Reese is a second year student PhD student in Classical Philology. In 2019, she graduated from Utah State University with her BA, with majors in English Literature and Philosophy and a minor in Latin. She went on to receive her MA in Ancient Languages and Cultures in the History Department at Utah State University in 2021. Her MA thesis, "Don't Get Me Started About the Water: Foodways and Power in Juvenal's Satire V", situated the differing menus of the satire in the context of the first and second centuries, analyzing the foodways and hierarchical subtext embedded in the dishes from their sourcing to serving.
Along with her interests in food, Juvenal, and satire, Alex also has budding interests in Greek literature, Roman and Greek comedy, and reception.
