Patricia Morgan Carey , MD

My time at Hoxworth Blood Center and the University of Cincinnati has allowed me to pursue multiple endeavors. In addition to clinical responsibilities with two large, academic transfusion services, focus has extended to program director for the Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine fellowship, lecturer for the clinical laboratory scientist program, master’s program and medical students, and oversight of the therapeutic apheresis program which includes therapeutic plasma exchange, red cell exchange, extracorporeal photopheresis, platelet and leukocyte reduction and peripheral blood stem cell collection (local and national). The therapeutic apheresis program is available to multiple academic and community hospitals and strives to provide cutting edge procedures to address patient needs in the community. I also work with blood center representatives to properly and safely qualify persons for blood donation.
