Professional Summary

Personal Statement
As I began shadowing and volunteering in local clinics, I loved working with people around the community, sharing in their joys, and supporting them in their struggles. During my family medicine rotation, a grandfather confided in me that his daughter, struggling with heroin addiction, endangered her child and lost custody. My patient felt worsening stress and depression, but I knew prescriptions could not fix circumstances at home. This man, wise beyond my years, looked to me for support when he needed someone to talk to. The heart-to-heart and hug we shared may have been part of his treatment as much as other items on his medications list. I found that similar ties are forged daily in radiation oncology over frequent follow-ups as physicians accompany patients during a vulnerable period in life.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
I was fascinated and inspired by Cincinnati’s dedication to evidence-based teaching approaches atop a vast body of medical education research. Particularly exciting for me is the extensive feedback mechanism available to Cincinnati residents, providing very precise advice for improvement. On my interview day, I was further struck by the camaraderie among the residents as well as the welcoming and supportive environment that they had cultivated. I am convinced that at Cincinnati, I could form lasting bonds with my peers and receive all the support that I would need to succeed. I am thrilled to join the UC family as I continue honing my skills as a physician.
