Professional Summary

Shelby Dance joined A&S Advising April 2019 and advises English, journalism, anthropology, archaeology, philosophy, sociology, and women's, gender, and sexuality studies. Shelby is a two time graduate of Indiana University Bloomington with her Bachelor's in English and Master's in Higher Education and Student Affairs.

Shelby’s passion for working with students started when she worked for New Student Orientation as an undergraduate student. Since then,  she discovered her love for academic advising as a Student Success Advisor at Indiana University (IUPUI). Shelby’s other professional experiences and passions lie in new student orientation, first year experience, and service learning. Shelby hopes to always be an advocate for student retention and success.

Outside of UC, Shelby enjoys seeing live music, trying to find the best breakfast in Cinncinnati, spending time with family, and hanging out with her dogs, Scout, Lola, and Arya.
