Professional Summary
Personal Statement
Before medical school, I was a professional pianist and choir member. I participated in a mass ensemble event that consisted of a full symphonic orchestra, 120 vocalists, and professional soloists. We spent countless hours on timing phrases, and attention to each detail of the music score, including awareness of blending, listening and collaborating with each member. It was important to find a creative and unique sound for this ensemble while still maintaining the authenticity of the original piece of music. The language of music has challenged and motivated me to grow as a communicator, collaborator, and listener. Music has molded and prepared me for a career in medicine. It has shaped my interest to find a specialty that consists of team-based collaboration and problem-solving to adapt to the challenges of each patient case.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
I first heard about the internal medicine program at the University of Cincinnati from a colleague who interviewed there from my school. What stood out to me was the clear emphasis on teaching and the adaptation and innovation of the program to meet resident needs through necessary changes in curriculum and scheduling. What was most important, however, was the cohesive environment that I could palpate even through a zoom screen during my interview, and it was a culture that my husband and I wanted to immerse ourselves in and colleagues we wanted to learn from and work alongside.
