Professional Summary

Dr. Mercedes Falciglia is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, UC College of Medicine. She is also Assistant Chief Medical Officer at UC Health, and medical director of Diabetes Now and Sweet Transitions programs at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Dr. Falciglia's ability to engage collaboration across specialties and service lines has resulted in the successful design and implementation of interdisciplinary system-based diabetes care programs in inpatient and ambulatory settings. Her depth of knowledge in diabetes and glycemic disorders is a product of both clinical expertise in endocrinology as well as experience from NIH-funded research on hyperglycemia and risk-adjusted mortality during acute illness. Nationally, her efforts include participating in writing the Veterans Health Administration/Department of Defense Clinical Practice Guidelines for Diabetes, and serving as national endocrinologist for the NIH-sponsored SHINE trial that examined the efficacy and safety of glycemic control in patients admitted with ischemic stroke.  Dr. Falciglia is ABIM certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology/Metabolism, and sees patients at UC Health and the Cincinnati VAMC.
