Professional Summary
Personal Statement
Music is more than just a passion for me, it is a way to connect with others on a profound level. In high school, I had the opportunity to volunteer with a musical therapist in Columbia, SC, where I used my skills to uplift and comfort patients-playing violin sonatas for cancer patients in the oncology ward and guitar for patients in a rehab center. This experience opened my eyes to the healing power of music and inspired me to integrate it into my future career in medicine. As I pursued my college education, I supported myself by teaching music lessons and playing gigs at local restaurants and private events. In medical school, I continued this path by collaborating with a music therapist on a quality improvement project and volunteering to provide music for elderly patients in nursing homes. Through these experiences, I have strengthened my discipline, focus, and ability to perform under pressure—traits I know are essential in medicine.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
One thing that really stood out to me about Cincinnati was the Long Block. Having 12 continuous months dedicated to ambulatory patient care really appealed to me because I would be able to have the opportunity to be fully immersed in ambulatory medicine when on the block and fully immersed in inpatient medicine for the other months.
