Professional Summary

Dean George was a public school instrumental music teacher and director of music for four years. He also taught at the University of Texas at Austin from 1967-73 and Pennsylvania State University from 1973-77. He is active in state and national professional organizations through committee assignments and convention presentations. For the Ohio Music Education Association, he has served in many capacities including numerous committee assignments such as Chairman of Southwest Region (1979-81), 1982, 1987 and 2005 Professional Conferences, Region/All-State Orchestra (1982-83), Editor of Triad, (1983-85) and President (1988-90). He was also Chairman of the Music Educators National Conference Publications Planning Committee (1985-90). As an author, he has published articles in various professional journals, major chapters in two books, and he was editor of the Journal of Band Research, 1974-82. In 1996 he received the OMEA Distinguished Service Award.
