Professional Summary

Personal Statement
As much as I enjoyed the technical aspects of surgical management, it could not replace the pull I felt towards physiology, navigating the mechanisms that are occurring within the body, and counseling on the role of medication or intervention to enact a positive change in a patient's life. The quiet moments are especially important to me — returning to a room after rounds to ensure a worried family understands the plan; pre-procedure small talk about grandchildren to help a nervous patient find calm; or sitting with someone who's been intubated for weeks, looking at her art portfolio and somehow understanding one another even with just a white board for communication. Internal medicine has offered greater fulfillment in these moments, more than time in the operating room ever could.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
When I first learned about the program, I was really excited that UC offered the opportunity to be involved with Medical Education during residency and exposure to all subspecialties in an academic setting. However, what really won me over was observing and experiencing the camaraderie of residents during the interview. It was abundantly clear from both residents and faculty that training here meant that your leaders care about you and your wellbeing as well as a strong clinical education.
