Personal Statement
Internal medicine provides a dedicated, intensive framework to focus on patients’ health, form strong connections, and assemble resources. These core factors, and the desire to meet patients where they are, drew me to the specialty. It is important for me to work with diverse populations; I focus on addressing health disparities by advocating for, educating, and empowering individuals in underserved communities as well as in the hospital. In the same vein, I am motivated to become skilled at procedures to personally provide more holistic care. Finally, I value immersing myself in the surrounding community. I have volunteered with an array of local organizations and, through learning about others, learned even more about myself.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
While I had a global upbringing, I was born in Cincinnati and have always considered it to be home. I love the city and the community that I have built here. UC has an exceptional program with supportive residents and attendings, thoughtful and personalized education, and rigorous training. The compassion of this community continues to impress me.
