Professional Summary

Keeley Harding, DNP, APRN, CNS, CPNP-AC/PC is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who teaches in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program in the College of Nursing. Previously, she taught in the Acute Care and Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner programs. Dr. Harding's clinical experience as a nurse practitioner includes acute and chronic pain management, urgent care, emergency department, gastroenterology, and radiology. She was previously an independent consultant for the Ohio Attorney General's Health Care Fraud Section and the Ohio Board of Nursing.

Dr. Harding obtained her DNP degree in 2015 from The Ohio State University. While in the DNP program, she developed an educational website (www.OhioAPRN.com) for Ohio legislators in partial fulfillment of degree requirements. In addition to writing a manuscript, dissemination of her DNP project work consisted of poster presentations at statewide conferences. Dr. Harding has authored newsletter articles for professional nursing organizations and given podium and poster presentations at the state, national, and international levels, including numerous presentations across Ohio regarding APRN laws and rules. She has provided proponent legislative testimony on behalf of the APRN Schedule II prescriptive authority bill before the Ohio General Assembly and testified on issues related to APRN practice to the Ohio Board of Nursing. Dr. Harding co-authored a book chapter, "Well-Child Visits During School-Age Years." She has also co-authored an article published in the AANA Journal, "An Analysis and Review of the Use of State Legislator Clinical Site Visits to Increase Advocacy for Nurse Anesthesiologists." She is a member of the manuscript review panel for two journals: the Journal of Doctoral Nursing Practice and the Journal of Pediatric Health Care.

Dr. Harding has been actively involved in the health policy arena at the state and national levels for many years, and has served in various leadership roles: former Health Policy Chair and Newsletter Chair/Editor for the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and past Legislative Co-Chair for the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses (OAAPN). While serving in these roles, she was appointed to the Governor’s Ohio Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force in 2010. Currently, she serves in a board member position as the President-Elect for Ohio NAPNAP.

Dr. Harding has received several outstanding service awards and honors, including the Nurse Practitioner State Award for Excellence Award from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She received national recognition in March 2023 as Ohio's emerging leader at the 44th annual conference of the NAPNAP in Orlando, FL. She also received the Meridel Newman Outstanding Teacher Award for 2022 and the 2023 recipient of the Rosalee C. Yeaworth Outstanding Teaching Award.

Dr. Harding has a strong commitment to pedagogy, students, and improving DNP program outcomes. She continuously strives to incorporate research along with innovative, evidence-based teaching strategies into her courses while simultaneously trying to meet the unique needs of diverse adult learners to improve student learning outcomes and promote their professional growth.
