Professional Summary

Keeley Harding, DNP, APRN, CNS, CPNP-AC/PC is an assistant professor in the College of Nursing where she teaches DNP practicums, health policy, and leadership curricula for graduate students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree program. Previously, she taught in the Acute and Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner program. She also teaches the master's-level doctoral health policy course. Dr. Harding is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) with clinical experience as a nurse practitioner in a variety of specialty areas, including acute and chronic pain management, urgent care, emergency department, gastroenterology, and radiology.

Dr. Harding obtained her DNP degree in 2015 from The Ohio State University where the focus of her studies was health policy and pain management. She developed an educational website (www.OhioAPRN.com) for state legislators in partial fulfillment of degree requirements. She is currently an APRN independently contracted consultant for the Ohio Attorney General. She has been actively involved in health policy at the state and national levels. Dr. Harding has given numerous presentations across Ohio regarding APRN laws and rules as well as legislative testimony before the Ohio General Assembly.

She has served in various leadership roles, including the Health Policy Chair for the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and Legislative Co-Chair for the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses. She has received several outstanding service awards and honors, including the 2010 Nurse Practitioner State Award for Excellence Award from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Meridel Newman Outstanding Teacher Award for 2022. In 2010, she was appointed by the Governor to the Ohio Prescription Drug Abuse Task Force. She currently serves on the executive board for Ohio NAPNAP as President-Elect.

Dr. Harding has a strong commitment to pedagogy, students, and improving DNP program outcomes. She continuously strives to incorporate research along with innovative, evidence-based teaching strategies into her courses while simultaneously trying to meet the unique needs of diverse adult learners to improve student learning outcomes and promote their professional growth.

2022 -2022 Recipient of the Meridel Newman Outstanding Teacher Award Meridel Newman Outstanding Teacher Award: The College of Nursing honors our excellent teachers by selecting an exemplar, master teacher for this award. Meridel Newman (1959 BSN graduate and educator in Illinois) saw the value in professional development and wanted to give back to her alma mater to ensure that our faculty would have professional development opportunities. Each year, two recipients will be awarded the Meridel Newman Outstanding Teacher Award and will receive $1,000.00 each from the endowment provided by benefactor Meridel Newman to be used for professional development.
