Personal Statement
They say life can only be lived forwards but understood backwards, and as I reflect upon my own journey, I couldn’t agree more. From humble beginnings to graduating medical school with a scholarship and honors, my journey has been one of resilience. Having worked in a variety of healthcare systems, settings, and roles, my path has been - and continues to be - defined by exploration, adaptability, and the constant pursuit of growth.
Why I Chose Cincinnati:
I had heard from my peers that Cincinnati was a great place to train, but I didn’t truly appreciate what that meant until my interview day. From my very first interaction with the residents during the meet-and-greet, I felt an atmosphere of support, camaraderie, and genuine happiness among the residents. It was clear that they felt truly valued and well-supported during this critical phase of their careers, which spoke volumes about the program’s culture of growth and teamwork. My conversations with the faculty, especially Dr. Warm, further reinforced my impression of Cincinnati being a program grounded in strong values and a shared commitment to learning. The patient-centered learning model, with a strong emphasis on medical education and active learning, particularly stood out to me. I left the interview feeling a strong sense of belonging, knowing I had found the right fit for myself. From the supportive faculty to the close-knit resident community and the way they learn and grow together, everything aligned with what I envision for myself. It really was a no-brainer for me, and if I had to go through the process again, I would choose Cincinnati every single time.
