Other Information
Miami and Erie Canal Mural Project
I had the opportunity to contribute to a mural project depicting the history of the Miami and Erie Canal, which once ran through what is now Central Parkway in Cincinnati. Designed by artist James Effler, the mural spans two walls and illustrates the canal’s significance from 1825 to 1928, when it served as a vital trade route connecting the Ohio River to the Great Lakes.
The narrative unfolds across the mural, beginning with a 19th-century scene of daily life along the canal, featuring historic landmarks such as McMicken Hall at the University of Cincinnati, St. George’s Church, and Sacred Heart Church, with the steeples of downtown Cincinnati in the distance. The southern section of the mural portrays the meticulous surveying and construction of the canal through the Mill Creek Valley, highlighting the engineering and effort that shaped the region’s infrastructure.
Being part of this project was an incredible experience, combining historical research with artistic storytelling to honor Cincinnati’s past.,
Dawn is Coming: Open Your Eyes – The Justice Center Mural
The Justice Center Mural is a tribute to resilience, transformation, and the power of community. Created in collaboration with John Wedge, a returning citizen who rebuilt his life through the Hamilton County Re-Entry Program, the mural illustrates the journey from isolation to renewal.
The narrative moves from struggle to hope, showing how mentorship and support can lift individuals out of hardship. As perspectives shift, those who once needed help become bridges for others, strengthening the city’s foundation. Completed in partnership with Hamilton County, this mural highlights the people who dedicate themselves to uplifting lives—one at a time.,
