Professional Summary

Frank Herrmann is currently a professor of Fine Arts and painting area coordinator. He teaches graduate (first and second year), and undergraduate painting (intro and advanced) in the School of Art. Honors include 2006 John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship, 2002&2001 Authors, Editors, Composers Award from the Friends of the UC Libraries, 2001 Ohio Arts Council Project Grant and the Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching 1997. Other grants include Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship 1983, 1986, 2001; Arts Midwest NEA 1990; Summerfair Individual Artist Fellowship 1983, 2000; Ohio Arts; and the University Research Council Grant 1983, 1990, 1999. In 2001 Professor Herrmann was awarded a residency at Castle Cimelice by the Ohio Arts Council through the Foundation and Center for Contemporary Art, Prague, Czech Republic. The 80" x 79" painting Cimelice Thinking: Fumeripits and the Brazza Baroque completed at Castle Cimelice is now in the collection of the foundation in Prague. His work is included in many private and corporate collections.
