Professional Summary

Personal Statement
During my third year of medical school, I decided to run my first half marathon because I wanted to push myself outside of my comfort zone. I committed myself to four months of rigorous physical training so that I could perform at my best. Throughout this journey, I continued to learn the value of self-discipline, perseverance, hard work, and commitment to a goal. Most importantly, as I crossed the finish line with tears of joy in my eyes, I realized how crucial support and encouragement from others are when setting out to accomplish something challenging. In addition, improving access to quality education and fresh food in underserved communities has become a focus of mine in medical school. To address these inequalities, I tutor children impacted by homelessness in my local community through School on Wheels, and I distribute fresh food to people in need in my community through Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. I have experienced firsthand the impact that dedication, teamwork, and compassion can have on those in need. My experiences serving others has prepared me to be a strong patient advocate.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
I chose the University of Cincinnati because it is a community that supports and encourages residents to succeed and learn. I value that the program is structured around evidence-based learning strategies, that patient-centered care is prioritized, and residents are encouraged to have a growth mindset. In addition, it did not take long on interview day to see the strong camaraderie at UC where residents are more than coworkers—they are friends. It is exactly what I am looking for in a residency program, and I know that UC is a perfect fit for me!
