Professional Summary

My laboratory (www.huangwelab.com) has a long-standing research focus aimed at unraveling the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular diseases triggered by stress or disease, encompassing conditions such as coronary artery disease, diabetic cardiomyopathy, and septic cardiomyopathy. Our overarching objective is to develop therapeutic strategies aimed at controlling cardiac remodeling and redirecting the adult heart to a regenerative state. Specifically, our research delves into two primary areas:

  1. Mitochondrial nucleoid in cardiac homeostasis: bidirectional signaling of mitochondria and nucleus in cardiac diseases;
  2. Epigenetic mechanisms implicated in inflammation activation and cardiac dysfunction.
