Professional Summary

PhD student Casey Huegel studies environmental history with David Stradling. His focus is environmental activism and the nuclear weapons complex. His paper "John Glenn and Working-Class Environmentalism at the Fernald Nuclear Weapons Plant," an early exploration of his dissertation topic, won the department's Zane L. Miller Prize in 2020. 

Huegel has published in North Carolina Historical ReviewOhio History, and American National Biography. He currently serves as the book review editor for Ohio Valley History and has worked for the National Park Service since 2012.
