Personal Statement
My passion for internal medicine stems from moments sustained by the community I learned to lean on during long days in the hospital. I cherished the banter within my team, the collaborative discussions during rounds, and even the shared emotions when a patient left AMA. Just as I once sifted through books to understand why the weather in New York differed from India, I now sift through past encounters, interpret lab work, and consult specialists to try to weave together a cohesive clinical story. Internal medicine places me at the intersection between reasoning and empathy where I can best support my patients through uncertainty. I have learned that medicine is never practiced in isolation. While resiliency is the result of self-determination to adapt, it is strengthened by the community that supports you.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
I chose Cincinnati because out of all the programs I interviewed at, it undoubtedly had the most down-to-earth and lively group of residents. One moment that especially stood out to me was during my second look when the residents asked everyone for their “song of the year” and created a shared playlist with our songs, all done by the end of the second look! I remember telling my roommates afterward how much that small gesture showed me how much they cared for everyone they came across, and I wanted to be a part of a community that valued genuine care. I had no doubt early on that through their views on growth mindset, my experiences at UCMC would quickly transform me into the best physician I can be. Finally, I would be lying if I said the diverse food scene in Cincinnati didn’t make an impact on my decision. Being someone who loves to cook and try new foods, it honestly has the best restaurants in Ohio (feel free to ask me for recs I can go on and on lol).
