Professional Summary
Personal Statement
After attending a medical mission trip in my senior year of high school, I knew I wanted to be a doctor. I saw firsthand the impact health care professionals can have in a severely impoverished community. My desire to serve was solidified by my experience as a nurse. I found so much meaning and purpose taking care of patients. Everyday, you are dealing with someone who is having the worst day of their lives which I saw as an opportunity to be a light in that very moment. Kindness, grace, and patience are all attributes I try to bring into the hospital. In fact, this is how I try to live my life. I also love to learn. One motto in which I try to live my life is: Don't fall in love with what you know but rather fall in love with what you don't know. That's where the gold is. Medicine allows me to be in the constant pursuit of that gold. I'll never stop learning to better serve my patients.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
I did a one month long visiting rotation at UC in my 4th year of medical school. I can honestly say it was the toughest rotation I've ever done. But it was also where I grew the most. The expectations, resident comradery, amount of autonomy given, and the culture of teaching blew me away. After spending a month of internal medicine at UC, every other rotation I did paled in comparison. I thought to myself, if this is what it was like for just one month - what would three years do for me? After that, I knew I had to go here for residency.
