Professional Summary

Dr. Cleopatra Kum is an Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing and Co-Leader of the Outreach, Recruitment and Engagement (ORE) Core of the University of Cincinnati Center for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases Research (CANDR). Her research focuses on health promotion and disease prevention among family caregivers, especially those caring for older adults and individuals affected by cardiovascular disease, stroke, and neurodegenerative conditions.
A Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Future of Nursing Scholar and an NHLBI Programs to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE-CVD) scholar, Dr. Kum conducts collaborative family-caregiving research and has contributed as a nurse interventionist to an NIH-funded study focused on improving outcomes for family caregivers of stroke survivors. She has presented her research at regional, national, and international conferences and disseminates her work through peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Kum is also an experienced nurse entrepreneur and founder of Family Support Care, a Medicare-certified home health agency serving communities across southwestern Ohio. Her clinical and leadership experience spans cardiac, orthopedic, home health, and nursing administration. Across her research, teaching, clinical practice, and entrepreneurship, she seeks to empower patients, caregivers, and communities to participate actively in their health and improve health outcomes.
