Professional Summary

Personal Statement
“Draw with intent.” A stray mark is distracting in an ocean of white paper. Just resting your hand in the wrong position can smudge an otherwise striking contrast between black and white, muting the shining metal teeth of surgical forceps or blurring the depiction of light reflecting off the cornea. Intentionality is an invaluable skill in making art, and a lesson that has persisted through my studies. Over time, I understood a greater meaning from it: when small mistakes matter, be meticulous.
My first art competition victory was also my first time considering medicine. I loved the idea of unifying my love for drawing with my passion for the sciences. Precision, planning, and manual dexterity benefit both artists and surgeons.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
Cincinnati has a truly outstanding ophthalmology program. My interview experience, however, was what made my decision so incredibly easy. The first thing I noticed was how friendly the residents and faculty are. They immediately made me feel welcome. After my interview ended, I knew I had to see the program in person, so I booked a flight to Cincinnati for the open house. I loved every second of it and was absolutely thrilled when I found out I matched here!
