Professional Summary

Dr. Messinger is an Associate Professor in the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences at the University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy. 

Dr. Messinger received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Biology from Mount St. Joseph University in 2008 and subsequently received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy in 2012. He completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in 2013 and a PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at the Five Rivers Health Centers in Dayton, Ohio in 2014. Dr. Messinger is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), a Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP), a Certfied Diabetes Educator (CDE), and Board Certified - Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM).

Dr. Messinger maintains a clinical practice at the St. Elizabeth Healthcare Family Practice Center in Edgewood, KY. In addition to patient care, he trains medical residents, pharmacy residents, and pharmacy students in managing pharmacotherapy for chronic diseases. He also practices at the St. Elizabeth Physicians Regional Diabetes Center in Covington, KY. 

Dr. Messinger coordinates the diabetes and endocrine pharmacotherapy modules and an elective course in comprehensive diabetes care.

His research interests include diabetes care, wellness and preventive care, LGBTQ health, and pharmacy education.

Dr. Messinger is an active member of several professional organizations. He is a past member of the ASHP New Practitioners Forum Exective Committee.
