Dr. Mizutani is an Assistant Professor and Mental Health Counseling Program Track Coordinator within the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at the University of Cincinnati. She is licensed to practice in Missouri (LPC) and Illinois (LCPC). She is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC).
She received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from J.F. Oberlin University in Japan and her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Missouri - St. Louis. She received her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision (CACREP) from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Dr. Mizutani's research interests focus on socially marginalized individuals due to their intersectional identities, which encompass gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, and other factors. In particular, she has conducted studies on international individuals, including immigrants, third-culture kids, and international faculty and students, as well as their identity development. Her research is further informed by her clinical work as a counselor serving the socially marginalized community while considering their intersectionalities.
