Professional Summary

DR. ERIK NELSON is an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry. His expertise is in the treatment and research of mood disorders, in particular major depression. Dr. Nelson received his medical degree and completed his general psychiatry residency at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Dr. Nelson’s main research interests have included major depression, psychotic depression, bipolar depression and antidepressant-induced sexual dysfunction. He is interested in developing new strategies for the treatment of depression, particularly psychotic depression and bipolar depression. He is also trying to find effective treatments for sexual dysfunction caused by SSRI antidepressants.
