Dr. Ngwenya has a clinical and research interest in neurotrauma, specifically, traumatic brain injury. Her clinical research involves identifying subsets of traumatic brain injured patients for targeted intervention.  Her basic science laboratory focuses on alterations in adult neurogenesis, spreading depolarizations, and identifying substrates that underlie cognitive deficits after traumatic brain injury.
