Professional Summary
Dr. Julia Olson is currently serving as a Visiting Assistant Professor in Judaic Studies at the University of Cincinnati. She received her Ph.D. in Judaic, Hebraic, and Cognate Studies from Hebrew Union College in May of 2025. Her dissertation examined the ideology of subordination that affects female characters in the book of Judges. She is currently working on publishing her dissertation as a series of articles. Olson also served as an Andrew W. Mellon Curatorial Fellow at the Cincinnati Art Museum, where she worked on the reinstallation of the ancient Middle Eastern gallery, focusing primarily on collections research, display, and gallery interpretation. She teaches courses on biblical interpretation and Hebrew language as well as the history and archaeology of the ancient Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean. She has also given lectures on museum ethics, focusing on looted and unprovenanced materials as well as the display of human remains.
