Personal Statement
My journey begins in a small town in Central Mexico known for its obsidian and a masonry bridge. My parents worked in the local market selling produce; therefore, I grew up around the smell of freshly squeezed orange juice, the hum of busy mornings, and cash transactions that were also friendships in a town where everyone knew each other. Being part of a close-knit community made me appreciate the human connection that I would later seek to emulate with my patients. As a curious child, I constantly wondered about the outside world. My mother instilled in us a transformative love for education, opening a possibility for a different life. This possibility materialized when I got into Tecnológico de Monterrey's affiliated high school, and in those classrooms, I decided to become a doctor for two reasons: fostering human connection and scientific exploration. Henceforth, I transitioned to Tecnológico de Monterrey's medical school, wherein I earnestly pursued local and international research experiences that not only cemented my love for research but made me want to integrate it more heavily into my medical career.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
I chose UC Health as the next step in my career for two reasons: the quality of the training and the warmth of its people.  From investigating the program online to meeting residents and faculty, it was clear that UC Health had a commitment to develop and nurture each resident’s capacity to become the best physicians we can be, with the patient always at the center. All that while having cutting-edge research faculty and facilities that fully met my desire to become a Physician Scientist.
