Professional Summary

Michael Parrish is a sixth year PhD candidate in the department of sociology.  He holds a B.A. in sociology from The Ohio State University and a M.S. in sociology from Florida State University.  His area of interests explores inequality in the areas of race, class and gender.  His primary area of interest examines post-secondary education with special emphasis on secondary to post-secondary matriculation with a focus on attaining a college degree. Moreover, Michael focuses on school-based activities that secondary students participate in as it relates to educational success, high school graduation and college matriculation for student from disadvantaged race and gendered backgrounds when compared to students from advantaged race and gendered populations.
