Personal Statement
I saw how a preceptor would conduct a new patient visit by asking the most important aspect of their health to better pursue treatments cooperatively. I witnessed incredibly difficult conversations led by a preceptor delivering life altering news and was engrossed by how gracefully she accepted the grief and helped work through it. I observed an attending completely change his style between different patient visits as he'd known them all for years and knew the best way to connect with each person. These interactions enthralled me by the depth of compassion that can be conveyed in medicine and how critical that connection is for a patient's health.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
After being in Cincinnati for medical school, I was able to see how friendly all the residents and staff were in the IM department. They created an incredible learning environment with a healthy culture while also delivering stellar patient care. I wanted to continue being a part of that environment where I knew I’d be well assisted in developing my path as a physician.
