Personal Statement
I have spent much of my twenties and several college credit hours pondering three questions: who are we? Why are we here? Why am I here? The philosophical beliefs that humans are no more than bodies, minds, or souls never really resonated with me. It wasn't until I read David Hume that I found an answer that felt right: that we are the collection of our thoughts and experiences and that those two things are what persist after we leave this world. As to why we are here, this question has proven more of a challenge to answer. Best I can figure, time will pass, so I am compelled to find a way to extract meaning from its passage. I've taken these questions as a call to live intentionally, to find the moments where time slows down. It's during these moments that I can build my thoughts and experiences into an identity I'm proud of, find meaning, and use the passage of time to serve others.

Why I Chose Cincinnati
I chose UC IM because of their commitment to patient-centered medicine as well as the emphasis on developing skills as an outpatient provider. Beyond this, the tight-knitted nature of the resident community and the way that they welcome and support each other reassured me that this program is one that has a vested interest in seeing each of their residents succeed. In addition, the city of Cincinnati is such a hidden gem with a culture all its own between festivals, Reds and Bengals traditions, and incredible parks. My black lab and my husband are pretty attached to this city, so we’re all very thankful to have gotten to stay!
