Professional Summary
Personal Statement
One blustery fall day, a patient arrived nauseous and writhing in pain and was ultimately found to be in ketoacidosis. Sensing there was more to her story, I asked a few more intentional questions. With tears in her eyes, she opened up to me about how she worked multiple jobs, and yet the only way she could put food on the table for her children was by foregoing her own plate. That day, I helped my internal medicine team not only treat her starvation ketosis, but also connect her with support and resources to address the underlying cause of her hospitalization. To me, a career in internal medicine means ensuring consistency and a safe space for my patients while considering both their medical needs and the non-medical factors that contribute to them.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
What immediately drew me to Cincinnati was the kindness and camaraderie I felt while interacting with the faculty and residents. As I learned more about the program, it became clear that Cincinnati values intentionality, growth, and humanity. The program strives for continuous improvement while maintaining a strong commitment to the well-being of both patients and providers, which I found especially impressive. I also appreciate that Cincinnati values not only our professional accomplishments, but also the personal experiences that have shaped us into compassionate physicians.
