Research and Practice Interests

As part of the DNP program at Xavier University, I completed a scholarly project focused on improving ADHD knowledge and support within a high school setting. The project involved the development and implementation of an evidence-based intervention aimed at enhancing understanding of ADHD among faculty and school staff. The initiative included educational sessions, assessment of baseline and post-intervention ADHD knowledge, and evaluation of perceived confidence in identifying and supporting students with ADHD. The project emphasized population health principles, interprofessional collaboration, and the translation of research into practice to positively impact adolescent mental health in the school environment. The project was successfully defended and completed in May 2020.

Building on the foundation of my DNP project, I have developed a growing interest in advancing research related to adult ADHD treatment, particularly in understanding the comparative effectiveness of stimulant and non-stimulant therapies. I am especially interested in exploring the long-term effects of stimulant use in adult populations, including cognitive, emotional, and physical outcomes over time. Given the increasing recognition of adult ADHD and its impact on functioning and quality of life, my goal is to contribute to evidence-based strategies that optimize treatment selection, minimize adverse effects, and support sustained symptom management across the lifespan.
