Professional Summary
Personal Statement
My reasons for going to medical school were probably the same reasons as everyone else’s: I wanted to help people. I grew up with a severe stutter and was obviously bullied for it. Nevertheless, with the help of my family and doctors, I learned to overcome it and develop a thick skin that would help me thrive regardless of that setback. Today, I can confidently say that I am able to communicate almost seamlessly in both English and Spanish, something that, as a child, seemed rather unattainable. I have always hoped that, as a doctor, I am able to impact other people’s lives in that manner, and this has been my motivation to work harder each day.
Why I Chose Cincinnati
I chose Cincinnati for multiple reasons. First and foremost, everyone in the program made me feel at home and I could see that they were truly happy with the program. Secondly, I admired Dr. Warm and his innovative education methods and modules since the beginning. During my interview period, Dr. Warm gave a lecture that showcased just how excellent and open the program with regards to learning, academics, and most important to me, patient care. I felt personally identified with the program’s values and mission because University of Cincinnati really cares for its residents and its patients. Finally, Cincinnati just seemed cool and hip, with a little of everything, such as golfing, awesome restaurants, festivals, and a lot of recreational events.
