Graduate Assistant

Professional Summary

Iman Shayegani is a third-year Ph.D. student in Engineering Education at the University of Cincinnati. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tehran and a Master's degree in the same field from Shiraz University. His research focuses on instructional interventions in Circuits I courses aimed at improving students’ conceptual understanding of electrical circuits. Currently, he is also deeply involved in assessment development, with a particular interest in reviewing and advancing concept inventories related to circuits electronics.
Before beginning his Ph.D. studies, Iman worked for over eight years as an educational consultant and mathematics instructor, helping more than 1,000 students prepare for and succeed in Iran's University Entrance Exam. Beyond academics, he is committed to educational equity and has volunteered in the development of schools for underserved communities in Iran, including Adrina in Sistan and Baluchestan Province and Koodakan-e Omid in Khorasan Province.

Education

B.Sc: Electrical Engineering: University of Tehran Tehran, Iran, 2015

Research and Practice Interests

Iman Shayegani is, currently, a research assistant at GUIDE  (Guided Understanding of Interventions for Developing Engineers) lab. In addition to synthesizing research findings on the effects of interventions on students’ performance in STEM, he is reviewing existing concept inventories related to circuits and statics. His motivation is to develop a new Circuits Concept Inventory that can better support the learning needs of engineering students.
