Professional Summary

Research interests:

  • Define lung mesenchymal progenitor cell heterogeneity and their roles in lung development and injury repair.
  • Dissect TGF-beta and BMP signaling mechanisms in lung epithelial vs. mesenchymal compartment and determine their roles in lung development and neonatal respiratory diseases.
  • Determine mesenchymal growth factor signaling in controlling lung injury repair and pulmonary fibrosis
  • Determine the roles of airway smooth muscle cells in controlling branching morphogenesis during development and their relationship to congenital pulmonary airway malformation.
  • Define the origins of pulmonary vascular cells and their contributions to pulmonary circulation establishment.
  • Establish the animal model of lymphangioleimyomatosis (LAM) and study the pathogenic mechanisms underlying the disease.
  • Establish a new animal model to study the pathogenic mechanisms of pulmonary cystic lesions in Birt-Hogg-Dubé (BHD) syndrome.
