Professional Summary
Hannah Slater is Visiting Assistant Professor teaching for the Asian Studies department and School of Art. Her specialty is modern and contemporary Japanese Art and her current research interests include postwar photography, landscape theory, and how contemporary artists have responded to the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Fukushima nuclear disaster. Her teaching practice encourages students to see and work with objects firsthand by visiting local collections on and off campus. Her classes aim to foster a student-centered learning environment that emphasize student-directed research, discussion, and critical analysis.
