After receiving his PhD in political science from the University of Tennessee in 2018, Dr. Smith spent 7 years at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, first as a lecturer and then as an assistant professor. His primary research interests are public law and judicial politics - particularly state court elections - and service-learning and pre-law pedagogy.

My tertiary interest is pre-law pedagogy, particulalry at MSIs and with first-generation students.
